The Importance of Celebration in Our Businesses

celebration in our businesses

As high-achieving, self-motivating entrepreneurial types, it can be way too easy to blow through big accomplishments in our businesses without taking the time to stop and appreciate what just happened. Celebrating should have a big role in our businesses, especially as believers, and in this post we are going to break down 3 reasons why June is the month of celebration inside Christian Women Business Builders! Experience the fun for yourself at www.facebook.com/groups/cwbbcommunity.

Reason #1 to Celebrate in Business:

It is motivating! As business owners we know how important motivation is to accomplishing new and exciting goals. When motivation lags, often our energy and ultimately our results lag proportionally as well. Celebrating wins in our businesses, both big and small, keeps us motivated to keep moving forward.

Celebrating wins in our businesses doesn’t have to be an expensive or time-intensive endeavor to make a difference either. I will be sharing 3 simple ideas below to celebrate and none of them require a big investment. The important thing is not how you celebrate or the size of the celebration, but rather the mindset of celebrating along the way!

Reason #2 to Celebrate in Business:

Reason number two is really the most important reason of all. We celebrate in our business because it glorifies the Lord. Scripture is loaded with references on how God specifically showed his people how to celebrate him with praises and celebration and I believe we should be intentional to do the same for him today!

Psalm 145:7

They shall eagerly utter the memory of Your abundant goodness

And will shout joyfully of Your righteousness.

Psalm 95:2

Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving,

Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms.

Exodus 23:16

Also you shall observe the Feast of the Harvest of the first fruits of your labors from what you sow in the field; also the Feast of the Ingathering at the end of the year when you gather in the fruit of your labors from the field.

When we share how good and faithful the Lord is to us in our businesses through joyful celebration, He is given the glory and we get to delight in His continued favor over us as we continue the journey ahead.

Reason #3 to Celebrate in Business:

In reason number 2 we talked about how celebrating honors the Lord and that is extra important for reason number three as celebration and the goodness of the Lord sustains us for the journey ahead. While we don’t know what lies in the future, we do know that the marketplace is ever-changing and only getting more competitive. We know that as technology increases and behaviors shift, we must be ready for anything.

Celebrating in our businesses reminds us when times get tough of the goodness and faithfulness we experienced in the past, and encourage us on for the future. Celebrating even when times are hard is the true act of faith and allows us to humble ourselves before the Lord so we are able to see His new ways for moving forward instead of getting stuck in what worked in the past.

Ways to Celebrate

Now that we’ve embraced the importance of regular celebration in our business, let’s share some easy ways to make it happen

1)     Make a Wins Book-Grab a notebook and a pen and get to documenting all the “wins” in your business. This includes goals reached, skills learned, connections made, lives touched, and can even include notes from clients, cards you’ve received, etc. Having a place where you can go back and tangibly see how far you’ve come is SO powerful!

2)  Set rewards for goals achieved-Again, this doesn’t have to require a big investment or loads of time (but if the win warrants it, go BIG!). Sometimes something as simple as “rewarding” yourself with a walk around the block after a client call is enough! The importance here is to set the reward BEFORE the goal is achieved and be intentional about doing the reward with a true spirit of thankfulness and celebration in your heart. Even the simplest of things can be rewards when viewed with the lens of being grateful!

3)  Share the good news of the Lord’s faithfulness in your business!  – Inside the Christian Women Business Builders FB Group, we celebrate business wins every Wednesday. Sometimes something as simple as pausing long enough to post a win in a public place can recenter your heart to celebrate. Whether you join us in the community to celebrate, or find somewhere on your own, I encourage you to start setting the intention to share the goodness of the Lord in your business on a regular basis.
